My Unconventional Process.

Welcome to Atelier NM. For a while, I’ve wanted to create a diffusion of my interior design practice, Homes One Interiors, which I set up in 2013 to cater to both residential and commercial projects. Tailored to complement that practice, the Atelier is rather like its dynamic younger sibling - a testing ground where I can develop and explore informal, character-driven schemes, combined with a touch of the playful and irreverent. A creative platform, the space will also showcase an evolving collection of own-design pieces, currently including rugs and tableware, which will soon be available to shop online.

Form & Function

A marriage of practical design and standout style underpins everything we do at Atelier NM. A passion for global architecture and interiors, from the impactful mid-century designs of American architect John Lautner, to the eclectic schemes of Kelly Wearstler, means that form and function are integral to the schemes I enjoy putting together. For me, functionality is critical, but never at the expense of individual expression.

“My personal style is very much a blend of abstract beauty and rule- breaking imperfection. That modern-eclectic look is what brings a home alive.”

In my design career, I’ve been lucky enough to work on a number of projects, from full renovations across period homes and apartments, to global-inspired schemes in the high-end development sector. Each one has helped me refine my style and yet always leads me back to the belief that the most interesting and timeless interiors combine dynamic shapes, patterns and textures. It’s great to introduce unexpected juxtapositions with colour and materials - schemes that create conversation and spark debate.

Inspiration

My own recent West London home renovation has been a fun testing ground for Atelier NM’s informal, eclectic style. I experimented with a number of different finishes, some of them inspired by my Lebanese heritage and formative years spent in Czech Republic, and some by my personal design heroes, such as Modernist furniture maker Paul Evans.

I used a Tadelakt finish around the bespoke sofa, cork walls in the study and intricate, ombre detailing in the master bedroom. In the kitchen, hand-beaten sheet metal lighting contrasts with aged brass-effect finishes, and in the bathroom, retro, densely patterned fabric is paired with pearlescent wall tiles. It’s an eclectic mix, but I subscribe to the idea that there are few rules when it comes to design, only these mantras: embrace ideas that you truly love, look to marry them with functionality, and avoid trends, which can sometimes feel more like a box ticking exercise than true expressions of character.

We all have our own story to tell, and helping others connect with their unique narrative through design is one of my motivating forces. I hope you’ll join me on the creative journey - I’m aiming to share inspiration, chat to designers, makers and artisans, spotlight timeless styles and offer practical advice too, whether you are planning a creative refresh or starting your own special scheme from scratch.

Our Atelier doors are always open…
